Today is Environment day..and I have been reflecting on what does it mean..to me…to us.

We seem to be taking a lot of offense these days..and while it may seem like an act of Solidarity .. it actually perpetuates the divide.

Taking “Offense” and Being offended — is yet another way we perpetuate ‘separateness’..

HOW can we address the Issue of separateness by being separate?

In this lockdown, I have had to use my hands a lot…..these days they are teaching me many things.

Few weeks ago my left hand got caught under the fridge door..and couple of fingers got really hurt..

When my Left hand does some thing that causes it hurt..ALL of me is hurt ..including my right hand..

And I realised, I automatically get on to the task of working on taking care of it ..The rest of ME comes together to heal this hurt finger ……not take offence and judge it.. and cast aside…

Somehow the rest of me knows. .that while this left hand keeps hurting ..I am going to keep hurting as well..

Sigh !!!!!

We keep getting glimpses of this…field of connection….as we feel the Pain of the forests burning.. dogs disappearing…people dying….the migrants walking ..the killings….the elephant who died…

We feel it …we grieve…bear witness…..we get angry and then… we move on.. ..

How .. can we see the rest of world ..our planet….as an extension of our body ??

How..When…

One how certainly seems to STOP taking offence or being offended. Because what GETs offended is our “Identity” and we certainly have made a bigger deal of it than needs to be…laughing at ourselves is a dying art.

On this “Environment Day” ..maybe one small step in ‘bridging the divides’ could be to be intentional in Being Unoffendable — Maybe then we will start to heal.. ourselves, our society and our planet.

Notes to Self: Practice — Keep remembering “Water Bears NO scars”
