“You waste a lot of time,” they said,
Staring at the small leaf,
Or watching and photographing sparrows eating,
Or wondering about stupid stuff like dust, and why it sparkles.
I also pay attention, I tell them. To the tone, the timing, the context –in which they say it.
I pay attention. So what do you get for it?”, Fair question, since the word pay is used.
I get capacity. To hold, to heal, to connect, to be delighted, to be awed.
Isn’t that worth the price?
And how did I waste .. time??
9 a.m. would have, as it always has, become noon (on earth )
My doing something or nothing does not change that ..does it?
I love what Julia Cameron, in The Artist Way writes..
“The quality of Life, is in proportion always to the capacity for delight. The capacity for delight is the gift of paying attention. The reward for attention healing. Attention is an Art of Connection”
To just pause and really see what around.. the magnificent . tapestry of detailed life.
I really don’t think its not important.
