LOCATION: BANDRA – MUMBAI, INDIA.

As a child I have been fascinated by dust.

In my grandmas house where I grew up I have spend many afternoons watching the single beam of light that would come through a tiny crack in the roof tile. And I would could see the dust dance ..move..  glide..shine.. and I would tentatively put my finger in one location  and then the entire spectrum would shift…to a different pattern of dance…. And I would feel so delighted.. I felt as if I could touch and change my world.. literally.

I guess as I write this my fascination with interconnection and systems stared really young…

What I also wondered was…the light I could see because of the dust.                                                                                     Or could I see the dust and its magical dance .. because of the light ? Was dust or light NOT there when the two did not meet in this beam? Like the rest of the house?.

If this is the relationship between dust and light  – what are we really doing when we “clean”

I am still fascinated by the dust, although I do clean quite a bit  now… but NOT too much..Dust tells me the shape of things that were.. as it settles. And I smile inspite of myself

I dread places where dust is not allowed ..and things are always spic and span and ..almost sterile. I wonder if any memories stay there…at all.  Does  light come.. at all.

For now … I just welcome dust and light …as inseparable.

I could correlate some of my thoughts here with you on one of the line of your’ s
“Dust tells me the shape of things that were.. as it settles.”
Is this not telling us that why only “non moving” or “dead” objects are more visible to our “eye”. it is the dust of the “past moments” that settled down on them make and make them visible to us “now”. so for me past moments are like “dust” which settle down on “present” physical bodies and make them look like what & how they are. The dust of “past moments” which make us what we are….
